mjr6550 Posted March 29, 2014 Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 I tested a heat pump today (with oil-fired furnace for backup). Outside temperature was about 45 degrees. Inside temperature was in the mid 60s. When I operated the heat pump (in the heating mode) supply temperature was in the mid 50s. Large (suction) line temperature at the condensing unit was about 68 degrees and high pressure line about 50 degrees. What is wrong with this? The temps you measured don't fit cool mode exactly but that might be attributable to the outdoor ambients being 45 which is far out of design range for cool mode.
