Denray Posted February 20, 2017 Report Posted February 20, 2017 Does this look like too low of slope for comp? One layer of paper. Click to Enlarge 74.32 KB
Bill Kibbel Posted February 20, 2017 Report Posted February 20, 2017 It could be. Hard to measure it on a photo. You should have the pitch gauge app on your phone. You can use it to snap a pic of the slope and add it to the report.
Denray Posted February 20, 2017 Author Report Posted February 20, 2017 Nice. Thanks Bill. Here's a tid bit at the other end of the roof. Click to Enlarge 44.28 KB
Trent Tarter Posted February 20, 2017 Report Posted February 20, 2017 Photo looks like it's less than 3/12 pitch. Some shingle manufactures will allow a bare minimum of 2/12 pitch, however they typically recommend two layers of roof felt and/or full ice shield underlayment.
John Dirks Jr Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 By the pic I'd say that's barely qualifying for comp shingles. It would however require double underlayment.
Jim Baird Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 The foreground one maybe, the one in back looks like even less slope. Love that app.
John Kogel Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Here's the pic with the house before the earthquake, just kidding. PaintShopPro gives me this - the roof slope is 10 degrees off horizontal. From that you should be able to get a roof slope. It's a low pitch, good call. Not unusual for low income housing, modulars or mobiles. The roof is prone to failure but so are the walls and foundation. Click to Enlarge 56.98 KB
