First Large Residential Fuel Cell Project Begins

An experiment using fuel cells at 150 households in Fukuoka, Japan, began in February and will test the use of environmentally friendly household fuel cells for supplying electric power and heat.

The experiment claims to be the world's first example of setting up household fuel cell systems on such a large scale. The fuel-cell system will extract hydrogen from LPG to generate its power/energy.

That is indeed going to happen here before you know it. A local company here (MA) is working with Honda on an interesting residential co-generation project involving Honda generators and residential heating systems.

A lot of fuel cell research is being done in the Boston/Cambrige area and has been for many years. It's only a matter of time until it hits the streets here.
