  1. Tankless for floor heating runs against traditional and conventional thinking. They seem to be doing just fine though, and they're gaining more of a foot hold in the in-floor heating market-at least in our region. Can't say much about savings though. I don't think the savings are as ideal as people had hoped for. I don't have any data to back that up.
  2. There's the fact that cap most assuredly hasn't been on the flue for the last 26 years. . .
  3. I betcha a cat. They can get crazy places. Yes, I've come across that a few times and hypothesized about cats.
  4. Katen Report Filed liked Jim Morrison's. One file for each month. 12 files for the year.
  5. Excellent forum. . .simply excellent. Red shingles---bad. They're not gonna teach you that at HI school. So the white streak is. . . denim particulate?
  6. I filled out the survey as any good ASHI member should. I didn't have time to diatribe and dissert(ation) like others, although I wanted to. I feel it was kind of pointless.
  7. Do it with a tape measure.
  8. Nope. If you know the color of the carpet, doesn't that say a lot about the condition, maintenance, upgrades, etc.?
  9. All my findings are numbered. If there's one component with multiple problems it'll look like: 24. The electrical panel has numerous problems including but not necessarly limited to: a) There's a tape measure arc-welded to the main bus b) There's a rat carcass inside c) There's too many wires d) etc, etc. If there's just way too much stuff to list, I'll say so: 24. The electrical panel has so many violations, there's too many to itemize individually. Suffice to say the panel needs major repairs or better yet replace it.
  10. I've not used it but InspectIt has a PDA version that sounds like it does pretty much what you're asking.
  11. I know, I know. I didn't have anything else for scale; no pencils -nothing. Yes, it's a sub. And like you, Brandon, I have to re-load my thoughts and realize this is ok.
  12. Hmm. Sounds vaguely familiar to the same repair story you tell about your Protimeter. Are you sure you're not confusing the two? Remember, Suretest is for ELECTRICAL and Protimeter is for MOISTURE.
  13. I couldn't quite tell if these SEC's were size 1 or 1/0. What do you say? Click to Enlarge 59.53 KB Click to Enlarge 42.74 KB And then regardless of the size, the SEC's are too small for a 200 amp breaker, yes? What am I missing?
  14. C'mon now. . . don't be like one of those old time plumbers who used to think that this new copper pipe stuff would never take off.
  15. I've been with InspectIt for 10 years or so. No problems really. I can't get myself to change - it's too hard unless I was to completely start over with something totally new. I can't comment on their "stability." Every time I've called, they've answered and helped. Downloading reports has never been an issue.
  16. Cool. The folks wanted to do a 203k renovation project. It was too much, too expensive. . .
  17. That house is in Bothell, isn't it?
  18. That's why they call it a coup, Mike. You don't have to be from the inside. And I don't think Branding was put to a vote by membership. Maybe I just don't remember voting. . .
  19. I vote for an armed coup d'etat (sp?). We storm Chicago headquarters, seize the funds that are being spent on outside consultants, certification programs. paid lobbyist and everything else that really doesn't "benefit" my/our business and seat Kurt M. and Mike O. to man the helm. That's it. Whatever they say, goes! Who's in? And does someone have a gun I can borrow?
  20. I just voted NO. I found it pretty smarmy that the ballot website spun and presented the issue in favor of YES. Sort of like all "elections" I've voted in ASHI. "Here's the issue and how it will benefit you and the Society, (because people much more important than you have already debated this issue, including all sorts of outside paid consultants and we've already determined what the course should be so we just need to to wink-wink vote to make it official) so please vote as you see fit." ASHI President election? Vote for Candidate A OR nobody else.
  21. Well, I'm an ordinary member as well and I just received my ballot and have voted as an ordinary member! Remember to vote and vote often![] Soooo. . . . . . ? I'm confused. As an ordinary member, did you vote YES or NO?
  22. I'm glad to hear Les is confused too. I can't make heads or tails of what's happening and what the pro/cons are. An observation: all the "ordinary" members that have given input all say "NO" - unanimously. All the leadership folks say vote "YES." Since I'm an ordinary member, I'm probably voting NO.
  23. Well, that part of your response is wrong. For example, Square D QO breakers over 30 amp and tandems aren't made for double taps. Okay, okay. . . I meant the Square D breakers specifically in this discussion.
