  6. It would be nice if the question where answer here on the form where more than one may learn. I believe that what the form is here for.
  7. Both of the upper sides is covered with vinyl siding. No Gypsum seen under the siding that was not covered with drywall.
  8. Marc, The drywall is for fire separation, to help protect the home from fire spreading to the other home since it is so close together. Here are the photos of the attic. The first is the drywall on the left wall. Click to Enlarge 49.14 KB Click to Enlarge 49.72 KB
  9. A real wide muti colored with brown as the base color[:-paperba
  10. Basically the whole neighborhood is that way. There are a lot of townhouses built this way in my area.
  11. In the upper attic there is drywall on the left side of the attic and none on the right side. There is a window on the right side of the house on the second floor, there is none on the left side of the house. The house on the right side is 2 inches closer than the one on the left side. Would there be any reason to but it on one side but not the other? Here is a photo of the house from the front. Click to Enlarge 51.76 KB

  14. I have the same problem. Look at my photo I have done inspections dress like that and have done them in jeans. Always with a nice shirt. I always do the best inspection I can no matter how I am dressed.

  16. Phillip, in the posting form (you get there by using the "reply to topic" button) you will see a little globe button on the format line at the top. If you hit that it will bring up a box for the text you wish to use and then one for pasting the link. Be sure to not double up the http:// bit. You may get a security alert asking you to allow scripts the first time. Allow them and hit the globe button again. If you look at this post now you can see that I added the same link below but with a short name..."textlink" textlink Thanks Richard, I will have to give it a try.
  17. Here he is talking about the same thing. http://www.inspectionnews.net/home_insp ... llacy.html How do you change the link to one word?
  18. Thanks Richard for sharing.
  19. Since I used to install a lot of snap lock pipe when I installed ductwork I had no problem putting solid metal vent on mine. You have to set your dryer in places, take your measurements, cut your pipe, and put the elbows on and tape it up good. Than it depends on the set up of your dryer and vent. you have to decide which one of the connection is going to be the easies one to make last, the one at the dryer or the vent in the wall.
  20. To my understanding the furnace should enter below the water heater. The bigger flue should be on the bottom (1st in) and the smaller flue connects above it. If the flues are the same size the larger BTU unit connects to the bottom. I may not be seeing the photos as you seen it on site.
  21. Marc, thank you for your input. It is helpful.
  22. Yes it will be emailed out to all that belongs to the association.
  23. I am working on an article to go in the Realtor newsletter in my area. I would like for you to take a look at it and suggest ways it could be improved. I have also uploaded it. Old Phrases, Home Sales and Inspections. The other day I was reading some old word phrases and it can to me that in a way we used these in our line of work. Here are some of them: Home is where the heart is. We all want to have the warm and fuzzes about the place we call home. As a Realtor, you help people find a place to call home. As an Inspector, I help people to understand things that need to be done to the house they wan to call home. Knowledge is power. This is one of the things that we want our children to understand. With the right knowledge they can go far in life. You use your knowledge to help find your clients a home in the area they want to be, close to work, in the school they want and in a good neighborhood. I invite each of my clients to come to the inspection where I can show them about the home that they are buying. This gives them the knowledge of how things work in their home they are buying. It shows them the items that should be repaired and items that they can improve for the safety of their families. The American Dream is to own a home. Yes we all want to live the dream. We all want a place to call our own. This is what you do; you help your client to find their Dream. The American Dream is to own a home, is part of my slogan. The other part is; Let us help you to make sure yours is sweet. A good inspection will help to make sure the Dream is not a nightmare. Being in the South and the Bible Belt we use a few phases that other areas don’t use as much as we do. To error is human; to forgive is divine. All of us being human have made mistakes in life and business; I know I have. I have missed some thing in my inspections because of the limited time that I am there and because there are items that limits the view of an areas that I am looking at. I have worded my comments wrong on some areas. I do my best to not to let these things happen but I am only human. And now for the main one my Mommy did her best to teach me to live by: The Golden Rule. Do unto others, as you want them to do unto you. I do my inspections, as I would want inspection to be done for my children, grandchildren and my mother who did her best to raise me as a good man and person. So in our business, Home Sales and Inspections, we should work hard for our clients and do for them, as we would want things done for us. These are a few of the word phases that I think I use in my life and business. What are some of yours? Sincerely, Phillip R. Smith, Sr. Alabama License Number HI-0445 Home Sweet Home Inspections P. 25. Put a new meaning to "fish fry". It may be rated for outdoor use, but is it rated for under water use? I don't think I have seen one rated for that type of use. Have the builder show you the UL listing saying it can be used under water.
