Mark P Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 I recieved an email from a company wanting to purchase advertasing space on my web site on behalf of ADT. Does anyone hav experience in this sort of thing? Pro - Cons - thoughts....
Marc Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 No experience of the sort, but why would you use space on your site to sell somebody else's wares? Just because other sites do it doesn't mean it's smart. TV ads and billboards don't use sidebars. My ad often shows up my competition's website, though I never specified it on my advertising campaign settings. Marc
John Kogel Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 Why? To receive money, Marc. [] It may direct some people to your site, but more likely it will direct your potential clients to their site. Well, it could be mutually beneficial.
John Dirks Jr Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Mark, If your site is successful in getting you clients, it's doing what it's intended to do for you. Why dick it up and cause distractions to your potential clients by hosting adds for others? I would avoid it.
Ben H Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Maybe, depends on how much, and where they want said ad to be placed. Top front page placement can be expensive. Make certain there link is a "target_blank". You don't want people leaving your site for some two bit alarm.
Bill Kibbel Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 I think it would seem a bit cheesy, for a professional's web presence.
Ben H Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 I just received a similar email. They offered 85 dollars. Ha. I replied and told him it would be 400 a month for a 200x200 spot, and I can take a credit card over the phone. He has not called. Go figure.
