  1. As far as your rotating tools, you seem to have roughly twice the number that I have. So, how are you set for sockets?
  2. Mine was that there are lots of them out there. Any Bubba with half a brain,we have lots of those, can get one. And that is my opinion on what transpired. I do acknowledge you said "could".
  3. I have one and did not buy it at a big box store. They do sell them. I like PEX but it furthering the degradation of the trade.
  4. Back in the day before ridge vent became common, I recommended people replace the motor with a permanently lubricated version. Granger has motors with the same frame. At that time a turbine was my choice over a power vent. If you read the installation instructions that come with the power vents, the manufacturer directs the owner to oil the motor once a year.
  5. Most AHJs have adopted the IRC. No amendments. The lack of a cut off at/in the home is the least of our worries.
  6. Curb stop at the road. That is all there is.
  7. You seem to be stuck on that thought today.[:-censore
  8. What is standard pressure treated wood? .20 rated is for above ground use. If it is treated with .40 retention it is rated for direct contact with the earth. Try and find a 4 x 4 with a .20 rating. For the record. It last a long time here in the humid, wet, termite ridden south when placed in contact with the earth.
  9. Call Bill Loden and a construction defect attorney. he most likely can refer one. http://www.insight-inspection.net/
  10. I respect the part in the ecosystem snakes play but I'm not a fan. I'd rather run one over than worry about crossing paths again. Sort of the way I feel about cats without the respect thing. Having said that, the wife is good with reptiles of all sorts................. Click to Enlarge 24.99 KB A client brought this little guy over and offered to give it to us. He was parring down on the pets to attempt to gain custody of his daughter. I'd bartered services with him as he worked his way through the report. His wife is a groomer and would groom my poodles. Anyone ever seen a standard poodle that looked like she was wearing a set of overalls. Naw...that one was on her poodle. I kept mine to a basic cut but I did let the little poodle (I call him stupid dog) sport a red Mohawk for thanksgiving. The last word....stirfry. [:-monkeyd
  11. My father often referred to himself as a Spanish Jew. The apple does not fall far from the tree. The DIY paint saved me enough to pay for most of the family vacation to DC. I'm working a trade out with a RE broker to use his condo on the Emerald Coast for a week this summer. I think I need to look at some new construction methods down there to be able to write the other expenses off as a "pretax dollar" vacation.
  12. Like me, I think my 40' is putting on weight. I don't have to drag it out even once a year but when I do........ I'm almost finished painting my house and have left the tall gable end till last. It will take three of four sets with the 40 to get that. Perhaps I'll do it this week end.
  13. Potential. Think near by lighting strikes. The remedy you describe can allow differing voltages to travel along the 2 "ground" systems. Your electronics and pocket book would not be happy.
  14. Well, I have my answer. It's not going to happen for me. The Simpson program started looking at seven cities but was narrowed to three. It seems Atlanta, Chicago and Seattle are the only cities they felt they could gather enough volunteers from. I'm willing to go Atlanta for the training but not to perform the service project.
  15. Just went back and read the comments. Well said Mike. I'll buy you one the next time our paths cross.
  16. I'm going to make an effort to. The email from ASHI came this afternoon. I'm a member of ASHI GA. The MS chapter never was a reality. Happy to drive to Atlanta for the training session so what I can volunteer to inspect is a question.
  17. Lots and lots of wire. [:-monkeyd
  18. There are NONE in my neighborhood. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UF ... SDB9J440VF I have one of these. No stink in the flower beds. No prints or scratches across my hood if I leave the car out of the garage overnight. [:-sly][:-sly][:-sly][:-sly][:-sly]
  19. Like I said a week ago. Keep bringing stuff up. Let's talk about finding cash in abandoned homes. From today's inspection. 1915 post office. Click to Enlarge 30.32 KB The Terra Cotta can bee seen in the background. It was used for the partition walls. The angled walls are part of the look outs where supervisors could observe workers on the floor and not be seen. On another note Mike, we have been watching a Cardinal nest for a couple of weeks. It is in a camellia outside of our dining room window. The red bucket was my daughter's idea after the recent storms knocked the nest out of the bush. 20. True but they do reduce the time it takes to understand the report. AS has been said they "can" reduce the time to generate a report. That leaves more time to hang out here.
  21. I've adopted Kurt's philosophy. I include a shot taken from the roof, furnace cover removed and open panels and disconnects in the report. People get the "feel" of what we've done. If the client is on site we perform a photo review. I also take this opportunity to compare the house to others. The photo count tells a lot.
  22. Different mind set. I typically see 45 mil. I hunt for the stamp with the manufacturer's name and call them to date the material. Typically it's encrypted. I typically see Carlisle products and occasionally a Firestone roof.
  23. Both are MDF and yep they use that stuff down in the wet south all the time. John, I like the acronym translation.
  24. No argument with any of that. If what I have said sounded like I roll over......ya'll know me better than that. The nice guy has gone easy on other's pocket book. Time to bring the scales into balance.
  25. Mark and Kurt, Ya'll are right. This thread has helped me put a bit of the "nice guy" mindset behind me. Erby, Well said.
