  1. By the way, I do use Association manuals when I have no other credible installation requirement sourrce.
  2. I understand but the text does not say such. A few written word all all that would be4 needed to make that exception. I read and store digital copies of many product installation manuals. I inspected a home with an electric on demand water heater installed this week . The manufacturer explicitly required 36" of metal on the supply and distribution pipes. So this leads me to continue to reference specific products installation instructions. They trump code. Its the safest source for our opinions.
  3. Thak ya vey much, now pass the jelly donuts. That's my Elvis impersonation. He was from Tupalo MS after all.
  4. Well that explains it. I googled the your assoc and found the design guide. Avail for purchase. And why is there more than one assoc? It all goes back to the specific manufacturer
  5. What publication is that from Mike. This is from the 2002 Plastic Pipe and Fitting Association handbook Click to Enlarge 119.4 KB
  6. I'm with Gary. I only know of one manufacturer who approves a direct connection. The manufacturer association installation guidelines state it should have an 18" leader.
  7. The munis overlook this detail every day here. Some electricians (via the builders) are beginning to get the program
  8. Jim, That is a new concept to me. What is your source? I don't read that into this cite: "NEC 408.21 Grounded Conductor Terminations. "Each grounded conductor shall terminate within the panelboard in an individual terminal that is not also used for another conductor."
  9. http://www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/Febco ... =40&page=2 try this for model # sorry so short but I'm on the road and you're welcome
  10. Looks like a watts device http://www.nobackflow.com/irrigpam.htm
  11. Bad install. Must be 12" above highest outlet. That device is subject to siphoning. backpressure (been a long time since I sold the stuff)
  12. You know your in sad shape when you get excited on a Saturday morning over a new service manual to read. My favorite is the bold print on the middle of page 8 of the pdf And, thank you Brandon!
  13. I'll change it to a bold, black font, like Jim's. As for the numbers, I need to check if my software can do it. I guess that might end up proving your theory of 'software driven formats' as opposed to 'inspector driven formats'. I would likely consider replacing 3d with something else if the 3d were to put up too many walls in front of me. Marc It will but you won't like it. It numbers by subheadings not lines. At least that is the the way my version is. I have not updated in a while. Dom is working on a converter to extract my boilerplate and drop it into his software.
  14. When you and I last discussed that subject, it was a draw. Got ya beat now....IBS and no gallbladder. Perpetual motion! [:-paperba Both wrist released about 12 years ago. That was the start of my path to home inspections.
  15. I keep the installation manuals for on demand WH in a file on the laptop. It has its own nuances. Both of these diagrams are in the Rinnai manuals I have saved. I do not have one for the continuum and did not feel like looking it up. Click to Enlarge 78.29 KB Click to Enlarge 84.2 KB
  16. Use a chisel to blow off the screws that hold the condenser unit housing in place. Put your sawzall blade on the coil side of the metal plates that are on each side of the coils. The salvage yard doesn't allow all those little brazed connections anyway. Take the coil pieces out then sawzall all copper, conduit and wiring off of the compressor. Take everything to the salvage yard. They'll separate it into three lots with a different price per pound for each. I can tear down a 5 ton condenser in about 20 minutes. Do the dismantling in the bed of a flat trailer and take the trailer just like that to the salvage yard. There's the ritualistic stop at the convenience store on the way back for some cold ones, though I skip that part these days. Marc So, how many of these things do you "reclaim" in a week. [:-monkeyd
  17. Amen! I believe we fail to give people some credit for common sense.
  18. If you're a fan of the Duke, AMC has a John Wayne weekend. It's a great way to DVR a bunch of his stuff.

  21. Ironically I commonly see something similar. Both wires land on the terminal strip.........my boilerplate: This panel does not meet current safety guidelines. It has a four wire feed but it is not configured in a manner that can correctly utilize the four conductors. All of the neutral and ground wires are bonded together. This practice, common to our area is improper. The simple solution is to have a terminal strip installed and bonded to the panel. All of the ground wires can then be moved to the new terminal strip. This will free up additional connection points so that only one neutral wire will be connected under any screw. Any bonding jumper between the panel and the neutral terminal strip should then be removed.

    Why

I make sure its not in contact with any thing. Most of the time it is set to the outside and the angle of the photo make it look like its inside the panel Accident : an unforeseen and unplanned event or circumstance b : lack of intention or necessity : You would never intentionally do it. Get a plastic or wood ruler if you want to use some sort of scale.
  23. The manufacturer's association design guide (PPFA) does not allow connecting PEX to a WH. In their design guide, Zurn specifically states their product may be connected directly to an electric water heater.
  24. Happy for you. 30 years = a true understanding of the words yes dear
