what are these for

in the attic I sometimes see these metal brackets along the truss edges. Are they used to help the builders align the truss when they are putting the structure together? They are notched for each truss and run the length near the peak.

Yes. They're just spacers. There are several different versions out there.

Are they just spacers for when the trusses are installed and the builders often leave them there? I see these all of the time as well and assumed that was what they were for.

Are they just spacers for when the trusses are installed and the builders often leave them there? I see these all of the time as well and assumed that was what they were for.

Yes. They're pretty much disposable. I suppose that the framer's could take them off an reuse them, but there really isn't any point because they're cheap.
