Ben H
Would you guys be scared of a used Surveymaster? I need a new one, but don't have 450.00 to spend? [!]
Terence McCann
Caveat emptor. Having said that a moisture meter is a must for this field.
Mike Lamb
You can get a new one from GE for $325 but just the main unit, no bag or accessories. The number for GE is 814-834-9140.
hausdok
Mine is 11 years old and still going strong. It looks like it's seen a thousand miles of bad road. Caution: There's a little transformer inside that tends to break loose from it's mounting and the little wire connected to one corner tends to break. It'll cost about $10 to get soldered at a TV repair shop (If you can find one)Then make sure they glue the transformer back down firmly and wad up a piece of tissue and close it inside the housing over the transformer to prevent it from being jarred loose again. ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike

Mike Thanks for the heads up Mike, I spent 10 years in 12v world, I've actually got a full soildering station complete with vacum system.[:-eyebrow I was just curious if you guys would buy a used one for the 250 range or buck up the extra cash for a used one w/ acc. Jim Katen
. . . I was just curious if you guys would buy a used one for the 250 range or buck up the extra cash for a used one w/ acc. As long as it works, buy the used one. Everyone I know owns a "used" moisture meter. It's "used" after the first day you take it out of the box. - Jim Katen, Oregon
kurt
Yeah, I've had mine for 20 years. Works OK. If you don't buy it, I'll take it.

Bill Kibbel
www.hi-essentials.com is the URL. They've got all kinds of equipment. That's a good price actually - have you used this company in the past? Never heard of them. They've been sponsors of TIJ for years - stop by the front page sometime. I've purchased quite a lot of products from them - many before they become sponsors here. If you don't see something specific, just ask. The prices are always excellent. I was thrilled when HI-Essentials came on the scene. P. E. has an obscene mark-up and their customer service sucks. They charged another customer's orders to my credit card and refused to correct it. They said it's my problem and I have to collect it from that customer myself! They finally fixed it, only after I threatened to pay them a personal visit. kurt
Yes, PE sucks. They're an Amazon company now, aren't they?
Bill Kibbel
They were bought by GHC Specialty Brands, owners of Gemplers, McFeelys and Lab Safety Products.
John Kogel
www.hi-essentials.com is the URL. They've got all kinds of equipment. Yep, got my Surveymaster from them a few years back for a bit less than $400, and they were quick about it. Have never used the accessories or the case. I bought a large cell phone case that has a belt clip on it.
