  1. You kinda wonder who was here first, but you gotta figure it was the dryer duct guy first. How else would he have room to shove the duct vent through the wall. Who knows for sure though! Click to Enlarge 58.99 KB
  2. John D. I find your vapor barrier comments to be particularly humorous this morning for some reason.
  3. Kevin's new career? Writing agent property descriptions!!
  4. Damn that Kevin with his bait and switch! [:-monkeyd[:-monkeyd[:-monkeyd
  5. Not sure what you mean, double columns. You can see the samples here: http://www.homegauge.com/inspector/home ... ample.html I use narrative.
  6. Fortunately for me, my Homegauge gives me all the flexibility I need without having to be a Word macro programer. It's a bag of bones I can arrange any way I want to for the output. Most of my report writing now is just clicking a bunch of boxes but you'd never know it from looking at the finished report. Not a box in sight. Sucks that it screwed you up and it turned out it wasn't the drive after all. I recently had to get a new computer myself after about four years with the last one. Sucks having to figure out all the computer tweaks all over again.
  7. Wonder why they're not having them check the drywall stamps in the attic.
  8. 100-200 or so. Storage is cheap. Hand signals or angles etc tell me what I need to know. Usually an establishing shot and a close up of the problem in the report. A few notes on site, if it's convenient. I use faststone to resize and water mark them, then slip them into the HomeGauge report. Sometimes I stick an arrow on them but that's about it for marking them up. I'd rather write the report with my feet up and a favorite beverage close by than in someone else's home why other people are busy standing around waiting on me.

  10. Talk about digging stuff out of the heap of history!
  11. Maybe you wouldn't sweat so much if you didn't have such a clunky ladder. Of course, carrying it for exercise can make your ass smaller.
  12. I never assume, I always presume. So, what different things have you seen Nolan? Enlightenment please.
  13. Go with Katen's answer. Had it happen several times when there are pressure balancing valves present.
  14. www.radalink.com They take the load off. I charge $179.00 for a radon test.
  15. C'mon Marc. They're the number 1 home inspection software sold on EBay!
  16. Don't do it. You'll regret it. Get the one that meets your long term needs and learn to use it well. If they're "premium" is so basic, it won't meet your needs long term and YOU are going to be living with those reports for a LONG time.
  17. Hmmph! My 10 year old grandson can reach that drip loop from the deck with no diving involved. Look at the window above for a distance comparison and then tell me they'd have to dive. The wires are level with the deck rail.
  18. Think a kid could reach the service entrance conductors from the deck? Click to Enlarge 33.58 KB
  19. Nope, but perhaps if there was a picture, someone might!
  20. You can contact Nolan here: http://www.nolansinspections.com/Contac ... pector.htm
  21. It took a slight bit of getting used too but now, it's just there when I reach for it.
  22. Wood probe, pry bar, cobweb gather, arm extender, cane in those bend over and walk crawl spaces, self defense against dogs, once (and I hope never again) a raccoon killer, and by golly, I think once I even used it as a screw driver to get the brass cover off a floor outlet. It's just handy!

  24. Now we're throwing charades in too! Hooo Boy!
  25. With first Marc's stuff and then Bob jumping on the bandwagon to show he knows a few big words too, my head is just spinning. It's a dizzying kind of day here. My report: Cheap or defective transformers buzz. Get an electrician to tell you which one this is and repair / replace as necessary.
