  1. I'm sure there are bigger fish to fry than condensate dripping into a sink trap. The condensate water is coming out of the same air that's circulating in your house through the duct system. The same fumes that are coming out of the vents (usually none) may be in the pipe. If the fumes are a problem in the pipe, they're also a problem in the ducts. T The water in the trap under the sink keeps sewer gases from coming back up the sink or condensate drain llne.
  2. Looks like a cold joint between concrete trucks pouring to me. Concrete: Guaranteed to do two things. 1. Get hard 2. Crack
  3. That's the biggest advantage of this place.
  4. Just be glad she who knows best hasn't been banging on your head for a new washing machine!

Nah, Ezra. I just knock a duct off and cool it with that, then report it as in need of repair.[:-monkeyd[:-monkeyd[:-monkeyd Yeah, John, they're pretty clean, though a little low sometimes. Coveralls = hot & sweaty and don't do any more to protect me than what I'm already wearing.
  7. That's the thick skin I was talking about!

Got mine in yesterday. Tried it today. Jeeze, should have had them a long time ago. Comfortable, no more cobwebs in the hair. I like it, A LOT! Click to Enlarge 68.91 KB Next time, maybe I'll remember to pull it all the way down over my neck??
  9. Andrew, Grow a thick skin. It can get rough in here at times. Then learn how to take better photos or how to manipulate contrast and ask specific questions instead of just "what you think?" You'll get some good answers if you hang around long enough and let your skin thicken up so the bitch slaps don't hurt so much. It's an 80 some year old attic! If they want new and shiny, they need to buy a new and shiny house that'll fall down in 30 years while this one keeps on going.
  10. Not at all, Kevin. Point taken, just used to seeing stuff installed way wrong.
  11. So, what's new??
  12. If you're turning down that many inspection requests in one day, perhaps you should be thinking about hiring another inspector or two!
  13. The designer, if there was one, may have specified where the refrigerant lines exited the wall but I doubt he specified a precise location for the unit. Wouldn't have been any more effort to have set the unit three or four feet further to the rear, away from the dryer vent and the AC Disconnect. For me, this one is just an HVAC tech not paying attention.
  14. I'm with Mike O on the school of house. Feel kind of lonely when I don't have someone there with me! Nice thing about this gig, we can (within some limits) do it "our" way, whichever way that is.

$10 bucks for six of them. Ordered from Amazon. Gotta try it. Like to keep the cobwebs, spiders, lint etc out of my hair.
  16. Just a simple fuse box, ungrounded.
  17. The wit of the members of this forum never ceases to amaze me!
  18. Sorry, the pictures above were from my phone. Yeah, the panel labeling, if it was there, should show but the labeling isn't always there. This is a subpanel for the garage. The right side bus is floating, not bonded. The high res photos show no green screw or bonding strap on the right side bus. The grounding wire should be attached to the left side bonded bus, correct?
  19. Ah, yes they are complex systems. Like Scott, it was the Alabama for me, just last January. A really neat way to spend the day exploring. Gotta watch those overheads though. Walked off with more than one bump!
  20. Gotta be a smart ass in every crowd. Guess I got beat out in this crowd.
  21. 100 amp sub panel in converted garage powered from the house panel. Aluminum stranded wire with several strands cut to fit the 100 amp terminal. House belongs to an electrical contractor, go figure I wonder who did this work? Click to Enlarge 62.59 KB Click to Enlarge 57.84 KB I'm uncertain. The main ground wire is connected to the floating neutral bus bar, not the bonded ground bar. Is that correct! (Yeah, I also saw the circuit neutral & ground connected to the floating neutral bar.)

    Age of Roof

Well, at least the age of the flashing piece.
  23. I don't know Jerry. Maybe he really means he'll give them a piece of his mind!
  24. Chris, welcome to the board. Just a note. While a little refresher never hurts, you might want to check the dates on the posts you're answering. This one was from three years ago. A lot's happened since then.
