I went online and as far as I can see... the only 'approved' flexible vent material is for WITHIN A MASONRY CHIMNEY (as retro-fit liner) only.. .. I have some calls out.. but y'all say .. what?? Steam

I think if you 100% insulate those steam supply lines with tubular jacketed fiberglass steam pipe insulation you'd get even more out of that system..

  16. Rarely does an artist have such a broad impact on design like that guy.. check out the things his firm designed.. I knew he did the Studebakers and the railroad locomotives ...but not the Lucky Strike package and th USCG 'stripe'! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Loewy
  17. Download Attachment: IMG_5520.JPG 113.3 KB You can barely see it in this shot (taken 2 days ago).. Oil-fired 'conversion' boiler (formerly coal) (at L) behind water heater. Vent goes into chimney. Barometric damper is 'in' the chimney at the circle... we see this a lot, but less and less as these old monsters get swapped-out.. "Strange, but true"
  18. We see those a lot... they'd put the barometric damper in the chimney like that, instead of as part of the vent.. just saw one yesterday..

  24. They can indeed be done very well.. the installer uses a two-sided tape and the installation is all about the details and such.. If it flexes too much, it could crack.. tell the client to simply 'contact the installer about the flexing and find out about warrany issues'. These systems can work perfectly for many years if done correctly..
