Erby
See it on a lot of older homes that were built before showers came around and then a shower was added. It was cool when it was just a bathtub under a window. Not so cool when you start spraying water all over it from the shower.
Denray
I saw it on a remodel once where the tile on the sill was sloped towards the window. I always carry around a marble with me for just such an occasion. P.S. it's finally raining out here on the NW coast of CA.
Mike Lamb
I think this stupid design with a nice big window above the tub (where else you gonna put it?) went all the way into the early 60's when a shower was certainly expected with a tub. I tell clients to get another shower curtain to pull across the window or face misery.
Erby
It wasn't a stupid design when they did it. The window was the ventilation. Didn't have bath fans back then.
plummen
Yeah I tell people to get an extra rod and a shower curtain also, and to open the curtain when not using the shower to keep area dried out
ericwlewis
wouldn't it be required to be safety glass or is this one "grandfathered in"?
Jim Katen
wouldn't it be required to be safety glass or is this one "grandfathered in"? I always recommend installating safety glass in these. Don't know about "required."
