  1. Great posts. I agree. Thanks for sharing.
  2. ... Uh, yolk? It's yoke, right?
  3. Today Gillian Welch, Tim Easton, Lucinda Williams, Alejandro Es coveda, and Kristi Starling are loaded in the player .... Tomorrow it'll be five other artists who never get/got airplay in the over the air media ...
  4. Painted while wet? Until I saw the dryer vent, I thought you'd snuck up and taken pics of the siding job we did on the backside of out church building ...
  5. My basic electronics training kept me going through my years on submarines (I let the electrician's mates deal with the voltage/current/phasing my equipment used.) In my civilian career I had to learn about three phase five wire wye supplies for the equipment we worked on, and, before I left that field, I was traveling around the country doing power quality surveys at hospitals where our systems were installed. I never worried about sngle phase elect. much (though I did bring some of our test equipment home to scope out the house I was leasing back then (two wire, the only ground was at the service disconnect/panel) --- Since I learned 3 phase, my somewhat autistic mind handles it better when I think of my household single phase as two phase, 180 degrees out .... (edited to remove the typos I caught --- I don't like this laptop keyboard --- not forgiving at all)
  6. They seem to be doin' a purty good job of it now ....
  7. Not going to defend the GA congressman ,,,, He's not too bright, no, but he's also a little addled from fighting a multi-year battle with Hep C. He's the guy who ran against lunatic Cynthia McKinney and ousted her from office ... The voters in that Dekalb County have many other sterling local officeholders too. Very entertaining.
  8. So there's no check valve, and those folk were blowin' smoke, or the check valve's kaput, and those folk were blowing smoke ...
  9. I used to carry one like that with me, but could never bring myself to trust it. I tossed it, and just use my multimeter whenever possible.
  10. Hard to believe someone paid to have this structure inspected ...
  11. MMDDYY with RPT, INV, etc., tadked on at the end. Each document is saved in open document format and PDF. Stored in folders marked by year.
  12. Water hammer arrestor, I think.
  13. Did you get a piece of pie?
  14. Does jumping from plant kingdom scientific nomenclature to plant anatomy constitute thread drift?
  15. At least the hole was drilled in the center of the 'X' ...
  16. I dump a bag of sand on the hardwood floors and do a soft shoe....
  17. And politics... I was thinking of the lesser used definition of religion: something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience, and yes AGW warming politics is, to me, included within that definition.
  18. This is what happens when folks discuss religion on forums like this....
  19. thread drift .... I've been in my house for 20 years --- The flex vent has never been cleaned. I replaced it once when we moved the washer / dryer to the basement, and I replaced it again when we replaced the dryer. ("clean the vent?" he asked sheepishly)
  20. I think that this is one of the best responses I've ever read here ....
  21. That must be an improvement from the 60's ... When we were kids, we accidentally learned that we could instantly knock our streetlights out for about ten minutes by aiming a camera flash attachment at them and firing. We used the resulting darkness for, uh, . . . . oh, never mind.
  22. That's not debate. I feel a Monty Python skit coming on ....
  23. I get mine from MPE (Miller's Precision Enterprises) - www.protective-clothing.net --- the last order I went with the Maxshield product rather than Tyvek --- Do you get yours somewhere else?
  24. Don't know how acceptable it is, but I offer a walk-through/consult service for folks who have yet to contract for a property. No pics, no written report --- just me walking with the client and pointing and talking. They walk with me, and then make a decision whether or not to go forward on that property. It's mostly for flippers investors, but I've had a few owners use the service to verify what they've been told by contractors, and a couple of sellers have done the walk-through to get a feel for what they were gonna be dealing with when they placed their homes on the market. (and I really miss the Selectric --- though that was way before I ever knew there was such a thing as a home inspection.)
  25. Every time I see the heading for this topic, I think, "What's the NCAA got to do with home inspection? And, "Will this help or hurt the SEC?" I know. I need to crawl under someone's house or something....
