  1. Click to Enlarge 48.03 KB I keep a dryer (softener) sheet in my pocket and one in my tool belt. Since I started doing this a couple of years ago, these guys have never bothered me. Scoff at will.
  2. I'm guessing that water is running down the siding, hitting that horizontal surface just below the fungal area and wicking back into the OSB sheathing. The same kind of thing happened below, where a horizontal trim board directed water to the siding seams. Lots o' rot... Click to Enlarge 50.44 KB
  3. In the modern home inspector vernacular, that's known as being somewhat peckish. [:-graduat ONE TEAM - ONE FIGHT!!! Mike I don't care who you are --- that's funny.
  4. I've had mine for about 4 years. With its weight and my bum shoulder, I try not to use it fully extended anymore (started bringing the 24' extension with me again) --- I use the 17' Cosco every day, tho (picked it up at Wally World for $99, I think, a couple years ago after I left my Extend'n'Climb at a foreclosure....)
  5. I too am a Gentle Giant fan from way back. Anything by Steve Miller Band 1970 and earlier is good, too--- (wow, is this a new posting form? I like it.)
  6. Just wanted to repeat that. (rote works)
  7. Off topic --- a little. I used to work with an elect. tech whose last name was Baines. Any unit he "repaired" and released to the field was identified as "Baine- Damaged" --- We called another guy "Hammer-Hands" On topic: I liked slack jawed ....
  8. I've been clicking that arrow for five minutes now, and the video still won't run . . . . Anybody else having the same problem?
  9. These folks moved their water heater into a dugout in the crawl ---- Image Insert: 617.76 KB because the rodent population needed a warm place to shi --- er, sit.... Image Insert: 51.34 KB

  14. For 44 bucks? Cant see it. On nice days if you wanna give away BC's while you're inside, hang'em in a clear sleeve on a handle, or secure it with a rolled up window. Someplace. On wet, nasty days, nobody's gonna be out there to get a card anyway. The only people I meet from the street these days are folks who want to know if I'm hiring....
  15. While I'm a UGA fan, I'm not gonna sing their praises here --- but I've gotta give KUDOS to East Carolina for two weeks of good work ...and a big attaboy to the Vandy Commodores for spanking Steve Spurrier and whichever team he's coaching these days....
  16. there' this: http://www.southernpine.com/pt07_userguide_grade.shtml
  17. I won't cite the code since it soesn't apply in AL, but the great state of Georgia has modified its version of the IRC to allow sprinkler systems in lieu of separation. Alabama may have done the same?
  18. Learned about these while riding submarines in the NAV.... Wet down for 1 minute - shut the water off at the head... soap up --- Open the shower head and rinse for one minute. Anything longer was a hollywood shower, and you only got to do that when you were using someone else's water. shut cold and hot water valves. Squeegee the shower for the next guy.
  19. To be completely anal about it, he meant "service equipment" when he said 'service panel,' and "panel" or "panelboard" when he wrote 'distribution panel.' Anyways, yep, the neutral/ground bond needs to be at the service equipment/service panel/main disconnect.
  20. Mr. Katen: That was one clean report. I mave some work to do now. Thanks for posting it. Mr. Coker: I record model and serial numbers at new home inspections. Sometimes the new appliances get replaced by used ones between the inspection and move-in date.
  21. From NEC 2005: "Article 110.14(B) : . . . All splices and joints and the free ends of conductors shall be covered with an insulation equivalent to that of the conductors or with an insulating device identified for the purpose. . . . ." I have long heard about, but cannot find, a cite that says that abandoned or unused conductors should be removed rather than just adequately terminated on either end. Is there such a cite in the NEC or other pub??
  22. You gotta know your local code. GA uses the IPC, and regularly changes the discharge piping section to read like this: 504.6 Requirements for discharge piping. The relief valve shall discharge full size, separately to a safe place of disposal such as a concrete floor, outside the building, an indirect waste receptor, or other approved location. The discharge shall terminate in a manner that does not cause injury to occupants in the immediate area or structural damage to the building. When the relief valve discharge piping goes upward, a thermal expansion control device shall be installed on the cold water distribution or service pipe in accordance with Section 607.3.2. If the discharge pipe is trapped, provisions shall be made to drain the low point of the trapped portion of the discharge pipe. (Effective January 1, 2007) Even with our lax code, that install needs fixin'.
  23. http://www.piaggiousa.com/pScooters/MP3500.cfm#nowhere It's a 500 cc scoot instead of a bike, but this three-wheeler might meet the requirement. They say the front wheels (and the bike) lean into turns....
