  1. Air is easily dissolved into pressurized water and into hot water. For one or more reasons, that faucet allows the rapid release of the air (like carbonation) when the pressure is released. The most common reason would be the aerator is just a bit different than the other faucet - could be debris in the screen.
  2. Polyhedron, with cross-gambrels, low-slope gable dormers and a pentagonal dipyramid on top of the turret. Similar asked and answered here: https://inspectorsjournal.com/forum/top ... C_ID=13191
  3. The IRC does not require a pan or drain for a clothes washer. I have seen several local amendments that do require it.
  4. Is that fake stone adhered to a concrete foundation?
  5. Yes. Mixing oil and gas fired appliances in the same clay-lined flue causes deterioration much sooner than same-fuel equipment. Also, changing from oil to gas equipment and utilizing the same flue results in rapid deterioration of the clay liner as well. The condensate from the gas appliance, combined with the sulfur deposits from oil-fired equipment results in rather aggressive sulfuric acid. I always encourage relining with both the above. It'll need it sooner rather than later. As Mike stated, the flue dimension is often oversized for the updated equipment anyway.
  6. Folks will wait to download their own personal report. Will potential clients wait to download an online sample, when clicking through several HI web sites? You might be surprised just how many folks still do not have high speed internet. The dark green in the map shows the areas of available broadband. Click to Enlarge 54.39?KB
  7. On my last desktop, I had a handy little photo editing software thing that I only used for quick screenshots. I think I heard about it here. Anyone know/remember the name?
  8. Trane current/recent models use the 7th and 8th digit. The serial number would start with a 2 or 4 (indicating R-22 or R-410). If it starts with three letters, it's an older model and is decoded as: 1st three digits TWX = heat pump 4th digit 0 = brazed 5th and 6th 60 = capacity - 5 tons.
  9. Chloride is a brand name. They make UPS (uninterrupted power supply) devices. It could be for a home network or alarm system.
  10. Sun Dial products, by Square D was manufactured between 1977-1986.
  11. It was years ago. I think it might be from a magazine I used to get about commercial roofing, aimed at architects, specifiers and facilities managers. I think it was Architectural Roofing or something similar to that name. I dropped it when it, like many others, got bought by a big media co.
  12. Under tile copings installed in recent years, there is supposed to be a continuous flashing. This flashing should terminate at walls/chimneys with a "saddle flashing" and counter flashing. I've used this diagram to illustrate: Click to Enlarge 70.05?KB
  13. Chad, can you also post this at Latest News for Home Inspectors? We need something new on the front page every decade or so.
  14. The label might not be incorrect, if it was printed between 2008 and 2011.
  15. It was posted as a humorous observation. What's funny now is the visiting sparkys are the one's that don't get the joke.
  16. Duro-Last, that's it!
  17. Don't gimme none of yo lippage.
  18. Around here, there mostly used for venting moisture out of wall cavities, where paint perpetually blisters on the wood siding.
  19. There is a company that makes vinyl (PVC) roofing membranes with a product that has printing on the surface that looks like asphalt shingles. The company is Duro-(something).
  20. Drought or ground water removal is a fairly common cause of subsidence under old buildings. About 25 years ago, I toured several historic buildings in New Orleans that were severely leaning. Some had sloped floors at about 2/12. The owners/occupants weren't the least bit bothered by it. The owner of a 1-story bar with a 4 story building leaning over it was a bit concerned. Amsterdam has many sinking, twisted and leaning old buildings. Much of the city was built on marshes that were drained. Click to Enlarge 17.16 KB
  21. Here ya go, pervs:
  22. I think it's rather spiffy for just rippin' 2xs. I'm disappointed though, about not preserving the historically accurate orange shag carpet of the period.
