  1. What a mess. I bet that the blind nailing is also wrong.
  2. I love the paper face masks. . . It looks good (bad?) to a jury.
  3. The house probably has a smoke oder on rainy days.
  4. No. I think of a composite as a combination of different material types to provide a desired design result. Think fiberglass and resin for boats and car bodies. Carbon fiber and resin for aircraft wings. Cement fiber siding is a composite of cement and wood fiber. Shingles are a composite of asphalt and fiberglass or whatever.
  5. Then how do you explain the corrosion on the lugs?
  6. Look at the corrosion on the lugs and you have your answer and your answer is yes, there is a problem with mixing materials.
  7. Please hire a plumber for waste lines.
  8. Add anchor bolts.
  9. I like the 30 second solution. Write a check. However there was a recent article in JLC about a guy that used a readily available explosive system to blast rock from a construction site. It looked like a lot of fun.
  10. You are wasting your time. Install rafter ties. Even better hire an engineer to determine if any repairs are even needed
  11. Place a straw in your Red Bull. Cover the top of the straw with your thumb then remove the straw from the can. Nothing happens. Now remove your thumb from the straw. The straw now drains, just like your plumbing.
  12. I would agree with Jim that this repair will work. However, I recommend that you consult with the manufacturer before you proceed. Blind nailing combined with face nailing may void the warranty on the siding. The installation directions are very clear that both are not allowed.
  13. Epoxy will not adhere well to this material. I would just prime and paint to match. Nobody but maybe a home inspector will ever notice.
  14. The siding is a shiplap style manufactured by Masonite. A rodent has chewed on the siding exposing the pressboard interior. An exact replacement is not available but something close in appearance can be found. However the reveal is different and care should be taken when making repairs to make sure everything lines up when you are done.
  15. If it is a zoned system could it be set up to only serve one floor at a time?
  16. They were only distributed way out West. And that some how applies to Kentucky? Please elaborate.
  17. What is the age of the roof? It looks like an Atlas Chalet.
  18. Installation of the heat pump is not complete. The unit likely needs full Freon charge.
  19. Marc, At the left of the mini breakers located at the top of the right lower bus is a "Main Lighting" disconnect.
  20. It's the twp black wires that Speedy sees that have me confused. They're not connected to anything.
  21. I recently inspected a 1960's era 6 throw panel that has been modified and was a little odd. It was no longer a 6 six throw, I think. In the pictures below you may be able to see that the feed from main lug to the lower section of the right bus has been disconnected. The two pole disconnect that I would expect to see feeding the lower section of the bus has been replaced with two sets of mini breakers. How is the lower section of the right bus being supplied with power? Click to Enlarge 45.75 KB Click to Enlarge 50.4 KB Click to Enlarge 44.15 KB Click to Enlarge 35.15 KB
  22. Well said. And that's why typing classes would be some of the best money ever invested for those that still hunt & peck. About the only class in HS I truly enjoyed and never fell asleep in; benefits me more in this job than just about anything else. My mother would not let me take typing in high school. She was afraid that I would end up being a typist.
  23. Very silly and useless. Certainly a "Top 10" bad finding by home inspectors to ask for bonding in this situation.
