  1. Mike, you make me sick.
  2. Are they single or double pane windows?
  3. What did you end up going with Jim?
  4. Never heard of that one Mike.
  5. Different type of wall heater for me today. Biosmart(Therapeutic Infrared Heat). According to the manufacturer it's supposed to relieve pain in aching joints. Didn't notice the difference after I left... In all seriousness. Does anyone have an idea of coverage area for these fancy green heaters? Biomsart
  6. Afternoon inspection on a home that was originally built 1910 and has since been completely remodeled to include wiring and plumbing. I was told the home was previously used as a duplex. So my question. The home is now a single family residence, however it still has two meters being fed from a single drop. Is this ok having two meters for one single family residence? There are also two panels(both FPE) which I called for replacement. Click to Enlarge 31.8 KB
  7. Over a year old post and it get's brought up over sentence structure? Damn it Mark, get your S*** together;)
  8. I have used the Tramex Moisture Encounter Plus for years and am happy with it. Consider getting a drop cloth for when you are opening the attic scuttle(insulation often falls out). Set of binoculars. And as Les mentioned a good, tough camera. Find one that is water/dust proof like the Pentax W90. Water pressure gauge.
  9. That's funny. Guarantee you none of the leadership is visiting the business next door.
  10. 100 year old home. Obvious wall failure that, according to my clients, had been repaired(pinned?). They were told that the metal bracket would need to be tightened monthly. According to my client, the company that did the install, states in their paperwork that they are not structural engineers and that it is up to the client to get that "inspection" if desired. I personally don't know enough about this type of system(first time in 10 years seeing this) to make an educated call to my clients. I do however feel that the services of a structural engineer would a good thing. Any recommendations/advice on this one? Update: The system is called Grip-Tite Wall Anchor System. 11. Thanks guys. And Mike, I did apply and never heard a word back from State. I followed up a couple of times with Rhonda and was told they were still deciding. That was a while back, I am guessing the position was filled.
  12. Hey Mike, No script. Matter of fact, the videographer was behind the camera asking questions. I just simply answered on the spot so to speak. The technical shots were all ad-lib. The camera was set on a tripod facing the panel or water heater and I was asked to just move in to the shot and do my thing. All of the verbal stuff was done in my man cave(note the Bears Super Bowl autographed pic over my right shoulder)[]
  13. Thanks Kurt. No makeup and one take:)
  14. It would be me, the inspector and now that you point that out and I listen to it again, all I can say is damn...[:-banghea The person that TurnHere sent to do the video, was very professional. In and out in about an hour. Didn't have an "office" so it was filmed at my house. There were a few edits that were done pretty quickly. All in all, it was a good experience and hopefully worth the cost...
  15. Sorry guys was off the net. Here is a link to the video. http://www.yelp.com/biz/south-sound-ins ... s-lakewood
  16. I have signed on with them Mike, but not at $800. They sent a videographer out to my place and we put together a 50 second clip for use on the www. For me, the video alone was worth it. They charged me $299 for the year to post it to all social media sites to include Youtube. Shoot me an e-mail if you need more specifics.

  18. Use screws and drill into the siding. What you will actually attach to are the studs behind the siding. Add some silicone to the screw before you drill so that the silicone follows the screw. I am guessing about a 3" screw(s) should work.
  19. Those of the bretheran familiar with the great NW, is there a time when a vapor barrier is not required on the "dirt" crawl space floor? The reason I ask. Today I had a new construction home in which the builder put 4" pea gravel on the crawl space floor but there was no vapor barrier on top. My initial thought is that the vapor barrier should still be required, just wanted to be sure prior to calling it out. And yes, that was one comfortable crawl... Thanks. Click to Enlarge 42.31 KB
  20. This particular leak is at the house we purchased in July. We just had our first "rain" since about then and this showed. I am going to go up and check the flashing and try to at least apply some "tactical" caulking.
  21. So this is a low sloped roof with a few skylights. I took this picture looking up at the ceiling to try and offer a better look at where the leak is showing itself. The edge of the roof is a good 2-3 feet away. I am guessing skylight leak, just a weird spot that these drips are showing. Any other suggestions? Click to Enlarge 24.24 KB
  22. Bill, I am not sure I would have even known how to search that one out. Thanks for your reply. And again, how in the hell do you know that one?
