    Just for the hell of it, I opened HG and spelled the word "after", this way. "atfer" Spell check suggested these, in this order. Atoner, Attar, Ether, Otter, utter. Other than that pain in the ass, it really does have an easy learning curve and has a great tutorial. If you have questions, you can call them. If something screws up, they can fix it on line. It also has an inspectors forum you can get help from. If you buy it, tell them I sent you. I need the hundred bucks.

    Almost. If it wasn't for the spell check requirement, I'd recommend the one I use. On the other hand, the spell check is so bad, you might entertain yourself for hours by intentionally misspelling words just to see what wacky suggestions it comes up with.

    The man's right. It's not MDF. It's genuine particle board. Harder, stronger, and much more painful when you're hit by the little chips while sawing it. The stuff of laminate countertop substrates. Did you re-cover the seats yourself?

    Yeah, and next week if the money is there...... But then, that's another six of eighteen holes with a lawyer story. Sleep well. Guess I just didn't see why all of that mattered. Personally, I think as time passes and improvements are made, the app will probably be as good as anything we use now.

    Good for you! My girlfriend has two degrees, owns a redemption center, has a twin sister who is an attorney, and has never whored herself out as an expert witness. So, you like the app, huh?

    I'd suggest insulating the interior walls. I used batts meant for sound proofing interior walls of commercial buildings. It does a great job of keeping shower and other noise contained to the bathroom.

    For the last two days, I've been trying to think of some of the stuff I had to play with when installing these things. Since it was at least four years back, and just something I dealt with on a case by case, I'm not coming up with any, "Oh yeah I remember that's". However, did the contractor ever check the bucks or the doors themselves? If they're off, he could waste a month adjusting and never get it right. Did you guys lay a level to the bucks? Could it be a matter of throwing the door and not adjusting the hardware?

    It's also not unusual to have to shorten them during the initial installation. I've had to do it on school jobs.

    Me too. It's all about money. Always has been, always will be. They can't prove anything about anything. What they can do very well, is justify the grant money and their jobs. Everybody's got to eat, right?

    Ya know? People do tend to spread stories of bad experiences faster and farther than good ones. Nobody ever says, "hey wait til I tell you how good this guy treated me," do they? Who wants to hear about that? No drama there. It's human nature. It's why the the six o'clock news exists. If your doing the job you should be, there's no reason to worry about it. If your hearing any negative feedback at all, weed out the legit from the B.S. but, make sure you don't ignore it. You should learn and improve from it.

    I never knew that stuff could puff up like that. I've had one unintentional chimney fire here. I controlled it with the damper and let it do it's thing. Sure was glad I was here when it happened though. Besides cleaning the chimney, I got into the habit of cranking it in the morning and burning out what ever might have been left behind from the night before, or whenever I lit a new fire. I always figured it was better to have a small burnout than to try to play that game again. And, heating up the flue seems to help induce a better draft with mine

    I like plywood. Did you ever wonder why they don't use OSB for concrete forms?

    It's all scrap. They took the Idea from Armour. It's the Spam of Wood. I'm thinkng more in the way of this is what happens when you use mulch and resin to build a house you expect to still be standing in a hundred years. It's junk. I don't care which way you run it.

    I can touch my hand to the horizontal run on my stove pipe, with a blast furnace of a fire going in the stove. There should be another thimble and some rock over that run, but other than that, oh yeah, it's not by the book.

    You never started a wall oven while several loaves of bread in plastic bags were stored in it? Uh.....me either.

    I don't know where he gets it, but every once in a while, my friend's dad shows up at hunting camp with Black label and he likes it warm. They still make Utica Club and Genesee around here.
