Tom Raymond
Does anyone have a ballpark figure for installing a mitigation system in a 1991 house with a mostly finished basement in WNY? 48 hour average was 4.3 pCi/L. I advised a minimum 90 day Alpha Track but my client is now asking about mitigation. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
John Dirks Jr
Many factors can change things but a ball park figure would be $800-$1200. That is considering a reputable qualified contractor.
Steven Hockstein
Assuming that there are not expensive finishes to replace and repair, a decent budget around here is about $1500.
Ben H
The good guys here get $1200-1500.
Les
does it have a sump?
Tom Raymond
Yes it does. Can the underslab area be vented without sealing the slab to wall joint? The basement was 2/3 to 3/4 finished.
Les
yes. cost around here would be approx. $700. I would like to see the seam sealed, but in reality it never is. initial reading will change regardless of system, it is a better than even chance it may drop if nothing is done. Tom Raymond
it is a better than even chance it may drop if nothing is done. That's why I suggested the Alpha Track. Cheap piece of mind.

I know of a home inspector's website that states he offers piece of mind. He's local; I should probably tell him (not).
Erby
I don't know Jerry. Maybe he really means he'll give them a piece of his mind!
