  1. I thought medium pressure regulators were intended for line pressures in the 150 psi range and bring pressures down to 2-5 psi and that low pressure regulators are used with line pressures in the 2-5 psi range and reduce pressures to inches of wc. Thanks for the note that RV regulators are always square and the correct regulators are always round. That's a really useful piece of information.
  2. More likely from hosing the brick off too soon
  3. You measure from the door jamb.
  4. I realize that my post may have seemed obtuse but, I thought that an endorsement of the manufacturer's other product lines may shed light on the expectation of quality. Aren't you supposed be to tending to your tulips?
  5. I've never used the Ezflow but I have used the company's Infiltrator systems and they work awesome.
  6. Awesome. I inspected a condo. There is almost no limit to the depths I'll descend for money.
  7. I hate to be the one who brings this up- it says what it is on the casting.
  8. Yeah, what Bill said.
  9. The house looks 1862, but the bricks in the photos sure don't. Weird.
  10. What model is the suretest and how much shipped to 14470?
  11. It's almost certainly from an abandoned gas line. What did it smell like when you opened the valve?
  12. Talk in soothing tones and try to calm it down?
  13. The generator has to be 5 feet from the structure anyway.
  14. From Fuel Gas definitions: A flame, spark or hot surface capable of igniting flammable vapors or fumes. Such sources include appliance burners, burner ignitors and electrical switching devices. It's the same in Mechanical and Residential. No definitions in Building or, ironically, Fire.
  15. Thibaut made a lot of murals. They started in the 1880's
  16. I made them install foot long pieces of #5 rebar into 6 inch bored holes in the messed up footing on two foot centers. In the first photo you can see Vern and Cletus drilling the holes. There is #5 bar on 4 foot centers to tie the poured in place wall to the footer. I stuck around for the pour and watched them place the vertical bar. I followed up with the architect and advised him of the situation and he was OK with the fix.
  17. Need free help?
  18. I agree, they're top bearing trusses. I'm inspecting 25 buildings, each comprised of 12 units of 1,400 sf. The first stories of the units with basements are supported by top-bearing trusses that arrive onsite in one length and then are used in various lengths. The manufacturer specifies the allowable cut locations.
  19. The neutral shouldn't have had too much load (any) if it's a dryer. Something bad happened.
  20. What does that two-pole breaker run?
  21. Show a picture of the breakers
  22. Probably no big deal. Many of them come with instructions and places where they can and cannot be cut.
  23. If it was mine, I'd move stuff out of the way and bang in blocks next to the joist.
  24. So I arrive to do a footing inspection and the dialog occurred as follows: Me: that looks like a footing, so you've decided on a trapezoid shaped addition? Contractor: blank stare Me: seriously- can't you see that the footing isn't square? Contractor: Blood leaves his face Me: I'm pretty sure this is embarrassing, right? Contractor yells to crew: Measure the diagonals Crew: within an 1/8 inch Contractor smugly: That's perfect in my book Me: your guy held the tape to the inside corner on one side and the outside corner on the other side. Contractor: lack of blood leaves face stark white The photo is the next day for the second footing inspection. Click to Enlarge 29.17 KB Click to Enlarge 81.94 KB
  25. I pay a guy to make sure I'm mobile friendly. Right, Mike?
