Mike Lamb
I thought this was BUR but now I'm thinking it's mod bit that someone has mopped with asphalt. What do think? Bill Kibbel
Could be, but I don't know why the hot coat. Fingernail pinch test the edge of a seam.
Chad Fabry
BUR but the laps are wrong?
John Kogel
Seems a bit thin for mod bit seams. The seams seem thin, a bit, for bit. []
kurt
I think it's mod bit with a flood coat. This is one of those weird Chicago things with no explanation. I see it occasionally. When MB started getting market penetration, morons would do all sorts of weird things with it. They didn't know what to do with it. Tar pots ruled for so many years, folks couldn't give them up. 25 years ago, I saw a lot of mod bit getting hot mopped instead of torched. The flood coat was another variation. mjr6550
My vote is hot mopped MBR. To me the seems are too thick to be BUR.
michaelfernandez085
This seems to be BUR - Built Up Roofing but with wrong sweeps & installation.
Erby
A better question. Where the hell are you that there's snow on the roof in August?
Les
Erby, this thread is from the "ice age".
Denray
I've seen it snow in Lake Tahoe in August, once.
Erby
Yeah, Les, sometimes it helps if you actually read the dates on the original post before responding. I've seen a few threads come back to life 8 - 10 years after the original post.
