Robert Jones
Is there a technical term for this design/style of roof? Geo Dome? Click to Enlarge 60.32 KB Click to Enlarge 67.22 KB

mgbinspect
Kinda sad, we're so subconsciously commercialized... definitely a roof line I wouldn't have... It's a hip roof style on steroids.
Robert Jones
I was fully anticipating a leak somewhere, nada. The upstairs bedroom(s) could be used as an IMAX theater.
John Kogel
That's a "hip" roof, alright. I wonder if it started life covered with cedar shakes? If it did, there was a long history of leaks, no doubt. Somebody did an impressive job putting that roof on. The one thing I don't see is ventilation for the roof cavities. That design doesn't allow for venting. You'd have to install a vent in every panel.
Mark P
Kind of a geodesic dome with gables.
AHI in AR
It's the bastard child of a geodesic dome and a traveling barn salesman.
Tim Maxwell
.....it needs pressure washing.
John Dirks Jr
Those are the shapes that house satellite dishes. Must be a spy living in that house.
Bill Kibbel
The roof is a polyhedron, made up of pentagonal dipyramids, with cross-gambrels. I didn't make that up.
Bain
The roof is a polyhedron, made up of pentagonal dipyramids, with cross-gambrels. I didn't make that up. Dodecahedron, to be more specific...with the cross gambrels...whatever that is. I didn't make it up either. Just playin' Bill. You the man. Bill Kibbel
Dodecahedron, to be more specific... A dodecahedron would be sphere-like, composed of 12 flat pentagonal faces. Remember the paperweight calendars?
Bill Kibbel
Holy crap Bill. And here I was gonna put Geodesicish as the style. Geodesic-ish - I like that better for reporting. I was just showin' off. It's pretty hard to put a geodesic-ish roof on that doesn't leak.
